It was 2010 when James (aka Buddy) and Ann's story began, just two university students who happened to cross paths through the efforts of their two now married best friends.
It wasn’t long before the friendly acquaintance became something a little more serious and after almost a year of long-distance dating, Buddy convinced Ann to move down the coast to Wollongong. She was drawn to his cheeky sense of humour, while he couldn’t resist her excitable sense of adventure.
Adventure did ensue in the form of hiking, road trips, graduating university and the embarkation of their teaching careers. In 2014, the decision was made to merge possessions and shed the share-house life when they rented their first apartment together.
For the next few years, the adventures continued and some more wonderful memories were created. These included travelling through the U.S and Mexico, returning to university by correspondence, getting permanency in their teaching positions and most notably, travelling through Europe in 2018. During this trip, on the edge of a Scottish cliff within the romantic setting of one of Ann’s favourite novels, Buddy proposed.
Now, after almost ten years together, we live by the beach spending our weekends sipping coffee and enjoying the great outdoors. The rest of our time is happily spent dreaming up and planning the next big adventures… our wedding, honeymoon and the rest of our lives.
