Matthew & Angela met on the very first day of university, on karaoke night at the on-campus bar. She was sitting at a table with her 5 other roommates, but Matt picked her out of the crowd and came and sat next to her. They ended up finding out they lived in the same dorm building, and after he walked her home, asked for her number. Reluctantly she gave it to him, because her dad taught her well to be wary of boys. After returning to her room she discovered a text from him, and even though she rolled her eyes, they ended up bonding over their shared love of Pokémon and starting building a friendship. By December of 2014 they started their relationship, and spent the next 6 years together building love, trust, and the small family that they have together today with their two cats, Mars and Belle.
Matthew proposed to Angela at one of their favorite hiking spots, Fairy Creek Falls in Fernie. They had gone there on one of their very first dates together, and it is a very sentimental place to the both of them. On August 1st of 2020, Matt had planned a date of hiking with food and drinks afterwards. Angela had no idea he was going to propose that day, and once they reached the scenic waterfall, Matt asked her to take a picture of the falls. Once she turned around he was on one knee holding the most beautiful ring she'd ever seen. They then had the most magical night of getting drinks, celebrating with family, and getting calls from excited friends. Thank you to everyone who made that day so special, including Angela's mum who somehow already knew, and bought us a bottle of champagne.
