Our dils first met on Dec 23, 2017 (via Dil Mil app). I messaged Nimit first which led to us talking for a day or so (about how 'hipster' Detroit was) before Nimit finally asked for my number! At first, Nimit didn’t realize I was Gujarati and tried to explain what my name meant (anonymous) in "HIS" language. I obviously had to let him know that yes, thank you I know as this is MY language too...LOL
Our first date was in New Brunswick at Clydes (cute little lounge) and we hit it off right way. We quickly realized that we shared a similar sense of humor and made each other laugh all night. If we thought it was easy to talk in text, it was much much easier in person. In that one date we even learned of all the different connections we had in our social circles, and how we were very close to meeting each other many years prior!
Our second date was at a comedy club in NYC. We somehow got seated dead center right in front of the stage, and actually got picked on by the comedian’s jokes. Nimit had an interesting jacket on with elbow pads, and the comedian just wouldn't let it go. After only a few dates, it felt really natural to spend time with one another, and we began meeting each other's friends and traveling together.
Well, that's the story of #WhenAnameeMehtNimit, and the rest was history! We can't wait to celebrate with all of you and begin this next chapter of our journey!
Fun Fact: After the New England Patriots (yuck) lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 (Go Eagles!!!) at Super Bowl LII, I asked Nimit out. Do I remember much of how it exactly went down? Absolutely not, but we’re both sooo glad I did!
