Our story began with a few mouse clicks at a pharmaceutical company in New Jersey. Akshay and Ami were both on rotations in their last year of pharmacy school, Akshay from Rutgers and Ami from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. One day, a colleague invited all students at the company to join for lunch. In the cafeteria, Akshay and Ami were grabbing utensils and quickly made eye contact (Akshay using mainly his right eye :P) and then looked away. Ami still believes to this day that she saw Akshay do a double take.
After grabbing her fork and knife, Ami found her colleagues and sat down for lunch at a long table. Shortly after, she noticed Akshay walking over and he sat right across from her! Over lunch, Akshay and Ami learned they both had many mutual friends. Over the course of the next 2 days, Akshay made multiple efforts to speak with Ami during meetings and lunch. On Ami’s last day, Akshay knew he had only one more chance to talk to her before he would never see her again. Akshay mustered up the courage and pinged Ami on Skype (yes, this was back when companies used Skype). He asked Ami for her number and the rest is history!

That same year, Akshay and Ami celebrated their first holiday together.
They shared many milestones, including their graduations.
Over the next few years, they spent time getting to know each other. They attended their first wedding together...
...they went on hikes all across the US...
...visited TONS of wineries...
...and traveled along the East Coast.
On a warm spring day in May, under an olive tree overlooking a winery, Akshay got down on one knee and asked Ami, "Can you do me a favor?" Ami quickly assumed what the favor was and said yes.
