About

Optional: Breakfast

There will be a light breakfast with coffee and tea starting at 8:15 am before the Baraat.

Part 1: Baraat 9:15 AM

A Baraat is a celebratory wedding procession for the groom, involving live music and dancing. While it does not hold religious significance, it is an important custom nonetheless. It is one of the key highlights of the main wedding day and takes place before the traditional vow exchange.

Part 2: Wedding Ceremony 10:00 AM

A Hindu ceremony has many steps that are guided by the Priest, along with the help of immediate family members. Guests will watch as the Bride and Groom tie the knot. During the ceremony, there will be a pamphlet to explain the steps as they occur.

Part 3: Lunch 11:30 AM

Following the ceremony, there will be lunch for all of the guests in an adjoining room.

WEDDING PARTY
Bridesmaids
Mackenzie Olson
Mackenzie Olson
aka Ken

I’ve known Ken since we became neighbors in second grade. We were arch enemies at first, who learned to love each other (and bicker) just like sisters. Ken is loyal and compassionate at all times. She is my rock!

Where you will find her: Running around being helpful

How you can thank her for me: Watch her three beautiful kids so she can dance the night away!

Danielle Davis
Danielle Davis
aka Dan

Dan and I met freshman year at Washington State University. She is such a positive and warm-hearted person. Of the 13 years I’ve known her, I’ve never seen her sulk. Dan is truly my other half and I would not be where I am today without her!

Where you will find her: On the dance floor

How you can thank her for me: Bring her a shot of tequila

Meghan Staley
Meghan Staley
aka Meg

I’ve known Meg since third grade. When we first met, she declined my friendship because I didn’t understand her “invented language”. Fast forward to now, it’s the humor and pranks that make everyone love her. Meg has a heart of gold and will do anything for those she cares about!

Where you can find her: Near the bar

How you can thank her for me: Ask to see her magic tricks

Attire

What do I wear to Indian weddings?

*For specific attire for each day, please click on the specific event at the top of our website.

For many of us, this may be our first Indian Fusion Wedding. We would love to provide insight on what to expect for attire and also give you suggestions on where you can easily find the outfits!

Outfit Terminology:
A colorful saree is an elaborately tied drape of fabric that is worn from the shoulders to the ankles, covering one or both of your arms. This may be very difficult to wear if you are not used to it. We recommend our guests do not wear this unless they are well-versed in how to assemble and put on a saree.

A lehenga is another popular option, but unlike a saree, this is typically a two-piece outfit consisting of a crop top and full skirt. This is a more simple option compared to saree and super easy to wear!

A sharara, which is a type of suit featuring wide-leg, palazzo-style pants and a matching tunic top (sometimes called a kurti or kurta). The set is typically decorated with sparkly beading, brocade patterns, and embroidery. Similar to a lehenga, this is also very easy to wear.

Men can wear either a long-sleeved tunic (kurti) or a knee-length jacket (called a sherwani) with matching pants.

Both men and women’s clothes come in dazzling, bright colors with lots of patterns, embellishments, and prints.

Places to Purchase:

Amazon and Etsy are great options! Etsy often makes them custom to your size, so make sure you order well in advance.

Local Rentals or For Purchase:

Aayka Fashion

Even if you don’t choose to wear traditional Indian wedding attire, bring out your best jewelry and body adornments—bling is a big component of Indian fashion. For women, this could include bangle bracelets, ornate earrings, beaded handbags, or a bindi.

Lastly, please note - use the sizing chart prior to placing an order. Measurements can vary from site to site.

We cannot wait to celebrate with you all in the most festive way!

Break Between Ceremony and Reception

Why is there a 4.5 hour break between the ceremony and reception?

Indian weddings are vibrant and energetic! By having a break between, guests can take time to relax before the reception begins. All guests will return to their accommodations between the two events.

Most guests change into different evening outfits for the reception. However, this is not a requirement.
