A letter from Paul!!

Dear friends & family

Second weddings… Let us think about this for a moment or two.

I had a disturbing dream, it lasted longer than usual. The rain became heavier and it was bitterly cold, the motorway was crawling and I could hear many distant family members and former work colleagues. I then saw a drunken man attempting to move his body to the rhythm of Mr Brightside while navigating himself precariously around a three tier cake, which I knew was three tiers too many.

The dream continued… To distract myself I opened up the forecast and saw much of the same. A hefty invoice lands on my lap as a yawning father begins his 30 minute monologue to a divided audience.

Hang on, oh I am not dreaming, this is my first wedding, I should quickly grab my emergency cagoule and wave my sparkler through the raindrops.
Picture the above for a moment before having a gander at the image:

Why Greece?

More chill, equal thrill.
Yes, it’s happening again – I’m diving headfirst into the matrimonial sea, and this time, I’m doing it with style and a bit more SPF 50.

Now, obvious stuff out of the way first, “Why Greece? Why not good old England? Can you try and be normal?” Well, let me enlighten you with a few (hilariously obvious) reasons:

1. Weather Roulette: Let’s face it, English weather is like a moody teenager (trust me, we know) – unpredictable and often disappointing. Remember the cagoule from my first wedding? Exactly. Greece, on the other hand, promises sunny skies, stunning sunsets, and a complete absence of soggy confetti (which we won’t be having).

2. Scenery Upgrade: As much as I love the rolling hills and historic charm of England, there’s something irresistible about a wedding with a backdrop of turquoise waters, partially completed buildings and you know the rest. Plus, the photos will make everyone’s Instagram feeds look like a Mediterranean dream.

3. Food Glorious Food: Sure, England has fish and chips, but have you tasted Greek cuisine? Well that’s also not particularly good either. But you can rest-assured we have a plan for this. And let’s not forget the endless flow of ouzo and Greek wine/beer.

4. Second Time’s the Charm: For round two, I thought, why not make it an adventure for us and our children also? Greece offers romance, history, and the chance to accidentally step on the in-law’s foot during a traditional Greek dance. It’s a win-win for everyone.

5. It’s All Greek to Me: Who doesn’t want to learn a new language on holiday? By the end of the trip, you’ll be able to say “I’m lost” and “Where’s the bathroom?” in fluent Greek. Handy skills, indeed.

6. Holiday for Everyone: Let’s be honest, you could use a vacation. So why not combine my wedding with a fabulous getaway? Beaches, historical sites, and ample excuses to wear flip-flops – it’s a wedding and a holiday all in one. And if you don’t or can’t…. That’s cool!!!

7. Escape the Exes: No chance of running into the ex-wife or any awkward reminders of weddings past. Greece is a fresh start in every sense, complete with olive groves and zero old wedding venue carpets.

So pack your bags, dig out those sunglasses, and get ready for a wedding that promises more than just a ceremony – it promises an unforgettable experience. Greece awaits, and I can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you in paradise.

In essence, second weddings are about celebrating love with the wisdom of experience, a pinch of practicality, and a lot of heart. And, of course, making sure everyone has a fantastic time. Cheers to second chances and second weddings!

Yours sincerely,

Paul Mayfield
