COVID questions

What are the current travel restrictions?

As of June 9: Travelers are no longer required to take a test for travel to Colombia. You may need a test to travel back to the US.

As of May 20: Travelers currently need to take a PCR test no more than 96 hours prior to departure when traveling to Colombia. As the situation is constantly evolving, we encourage you to check restrictions with the airline or come back to this site for up to date information.

What COVID precautions are you taking?

Our wedding venue will operate under 30% capacity. Most of the events will be outside, and we will have plenty of space to have social distance. Please take your own precautions depending on what you feel comfortable with. Note that most US visitors will have already been vaccinated, and we are hoping the higher risk groups in Colombia will also have the vaccine by then.

We will follow local guidance regarding mask protocol, temperature checks, or anything else that may be required to have a safe environment for the event.

FAQs

Do I need a visa to travel to Colombia?

If you have a US passport, you can travel as a tourist for up to 90 days without a visa. Any other nationalities, I suggest you check visa requirements.

Where should I fly into?

You should fly into the José María Córdova International Airport (MDE). We suggest you either take a flight with a stopover (likely somewhere in Florida) with MDE as the final destination, or you can fly to Bogota (flights can be cheaper) and take a short 45 minute flight from Bogota to Medellin. Bogota-Medellin round trip should cost around $50. There are  also direct flights from DC to Bogota or from NYC to Medellin.

What transportation should I use? Should I rent a car?

Short answer: Cabify (similar to uber).

Long answer: Driving in Colombia is not for the faint hearted. If you have experience driving stick in other countries outside the US, it should not be a problem. Otherwise, I would not recommend it (and Jeremy would strongly advice against). Do not hail taxis in the street. Your hotel can get one for you if needed, and there is typically an official taxi company at the airport that can help. Taxi is an option but the app is always better. They are typically nicer, and for reference, you can get a ride from the MDE airport to the Lagoon Hotel for under $10.

Will you have a shuttle from the hotel to the venue?

Yes, we will have a shuttle from the Hotel Lagoon to the venue and back. We will share a shuttle schedule for those staying at this hotel.

What should I wear?

Please refer to the Events page of this website for dress code details.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes. Please drive responsibly.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Weather permitting, we will have a ceremony and cocktail hour outdoors, followed by dinner and dancing indoors. It can get a bit chilly at night, although if you're anything like Jeremy, you will be fine!

The ceremony will be in a grassy area so plan your shoes accordingly.

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

We ask that you be present and enjoy this moment with us. Please wait to take pictures until after the ceremony, and use our hashtag to share! #ParrasiempreWilliams

Where are you registered for gifts?

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. But if you‘d like to, please refer to the Registry section of this website.

What will the weather be like this time of year?

Medellin is called the city of eternal spring. Plan for comfortable temperatures up to the mid/high 70s. It can get a bit chilly at night, as low as 50F.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive to the wedding ceremony on time. We will be starting promptly.

How can I RSVP?

Please refer to the Events section on this website to RSVP.

Are there any colors you would prefer me not to wear?

The bridesmaids will be wearing blush/light pink shades in case that is something you would rather avoid, but we don't mind!

Have you reserved hotel room blocks?

Yes, at the Lagoon Hotel. Please refer to the link under the hotel description in the Accommodations section of this website to book our special discount rates!

Will there be an open bar?

Duh.

I have a question not listed here, what should I do?

Please contact Jeremy or Alejandra with any questions!

Travel before/after the wedding

Many of you have asked about travel to other cities in the country. Here are our top recommendations

Cartagena

Cartagena de Indias is the undisputed queen of the Caribbean coast, a historic city of superbly preserved beauty lying within an impressive 13km of centuries-old colonial stone walls. Cartagena's Old Town is a Unesco World Heritage Site – a maze of cobbled alleys, balconies covered in bougainvillea, and massive churches that cast their shadows across leafy plazas.

You can take a 65 minute flight to Cartagena from Medellin starting at $70.

Bogota

Bogotá is Colombia's beating heart, an engaging and vibrant capital cradled by chilly Andean peaks and steeped in sophisticated urban cool. The city's cultural epicenter is La Candelaria, the cobbled historic downtown to which most travelers gravitate. Here, a potpourri of carefully preserved colonial buildings is home to museums, restaurants, hotels and bars, peppered amid 300-year-old houses, churches and convents. Nearly all of Bogotá's traditional attractions are here, radiating from Plaza de Bolívar, and gorgeous Cerro de Monserrate is just east.

Medellin

The wedding festivities will take place just outside Medellin, so we suggest you take a day or two to explore the city!

We recommend the Marriott Hotel in Medellin if you are spending a night in the city.
