So it all started with a DM, and the rest was history. When deciding to return to get my undergrad degree, I ran across some Southern University apparel from The Creationeers and made a purchase. I then followed Darrius’ page so that I could keep up with any other items that he may release in the future. Not long after I followed him, he respectfully, yet comically sent me a direct message through Instagram and we exchanged numbers. While gearing up for school, the last thing on my mind was getting involved with someone new, so naturally I distanced myself but that didn’t stop him.
After being encouraged by friends to at least give him a chance due to him being so persistent, I decided when the opportunity presented itself we would meet up and have a face to face conversation. Once he moved back to Baton Rouge, we decided to both attend a party that was going on one weekend, and as promised, we met up and finally introduced ourselves face to face.
With more convincing from him and friends we decided to go on an actual first date and get to know each other better. After leaving dinner that night we both realized that we enjoyed each others company and agreed to meet up and spend more time together. Once he moved back to Dallas the decision was made to make it official and push through a long distance relationship until I finished school.

It all started with my smooth comedic entry into her DMs. I noticed her from her best friend’s posts on Instagram, and recognized her name from an order placed through my company. I went straight for her number in the Direct Message and it lead to us texting back and forth constantly. A bit later, I ended up moving back to Baton Rouge to assist a company for a few months and took the opportunity to express my interest in seeing her face to face. She wasn’t too open to that initially but decided that we could link up at a party we would both be attending one night.
That night at the party we got to finally chill together for the first time - with her best friend close by to insure she was good. Before the night was over I let her know I’d really like to see her again. Little did I know that after many attempts and encouragement from friends she would finally agreed. I decided to take her to BoneFish Grill for our first date. We got more and more close during my time in Baton Rouge, and we decided not to split once I returned back to Dallas.

December 14th 2018 was Adora’s graduation day for her first degree. As she was getting a sigh of relief from completing her curriculum, Darrius was sweating bullets thinking about what he had to do at her dinner following. For the past few months he had been gearing up to make one of the biggest decisions of his life.
After dinner and dessert the playlist switched and began to play an instrumental. That was Darrius’ cue to grab Adora’s hand and begin to sing Daniel Caesar’s ‘Blessed’ to her. He then stopped singing midway and began to profess his love and desire to spend the rest of his life with her and got on his knee. He pulled out a ring and that’s when he asked her to marry him. She said yes.
